Slow roasted ribs with honey-onion glaze

A simple recipe that will always come out perfect. The meat will surely be moist, the slow roasted onion provides an incredible aroma and the honey makes this sweet and savory combination amazingly delicious including only three ingredients.

Ingredients

1.5 kg ribs

50 ml honey

2 oz (50-60 grs) onion soup/dip mix (1 or 2 envelopes, depending on the size.)

water

salt and pepper

Preparation

STEP 1.- Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF. Dissolve the honey in 100 ml warm water.

STEP 2.- Season the ribs with salt and pepper and place them upside down (bone side up) on the oven tray.

STEP 3.- Mix the onion soup with 320 ml warm water.

STEP 4.- Combine the onion soup mix and the honey glaze and pour them over the ribs.ribs collage

STEP 5.- Lower the temperature to 180ºC/350ºF and cook for 1 ½ -2 hours. Keep checking it after to avoid drying it. If you see the sauce is getting very thick, add a little more water. Keep pouring the liquid over the ribs every 15-20 minutes.

STEP 6.- Turn the heat to 220ºC/425ºF and roast for 5 minutes since the oven reaches that temperature. Turn the racks around and cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce is thick and the ribs have a nice, dark brown color.

    • Knorr (French Onion Soup), Maggi, Lipton and even Campbell’s sell the onion soup mix and all of them will work (in the US and some countries in Europe you can also find the supermarket’s brand). If you don?t find any of these you can also use fresh chopped onion. In this case I suggest you fry the onion in 1/2 tbsp. olive oil for 5 minutes over medium heat and add 1/ tbsp. flour to the pan, cooking it for 2 minutes, before adding to the ribs. I prepared them for the Superbowl and they were great! Hope this helps you, but please let me know if you have any other question.
